Benefice Service: 31 Jan
Next Sunday will see only one service in the Benefice…to be held in Tadcaster at 10.30am. This will be a service of Holy Communion. Refreshments will be served after the service as usual, including cakes and cookies!
Thinking about Confirmation?
The Rt Revd John Thomson, Bishop of Selby will be coming to the Benefice on Sunday 1st May at 6pm to lead a Confirmation Service.
We currently have a monthly course running for 4 adults and are planning to run weekly confirmation courses starting very soon, both for adults and for teenagers. If you are interested (or know anyone who might be) in considering Confirmation (you can do the course without committing yourself to being confirmed at the end of it), please speak to Jackie Doyle-Brett or Tricia West as soon as possible. To be confirmed you must be of at least Secondary School age.
The courses will run on a mutually suitable evening for those who express an interest.
Monday Morning Prayer
Morning Prayer on Monday mornings will restart this week. All are welcome to join us at 9.30am each week as we share an informal time of worship and prayer.
4X
4X is an opportunity for members of the different churches in Tadcaster to meet up for a meal, worship, Bible study and prayer. Held 4 times a year, the next meeting will be on Thursday 28th January at . We meet from 6.45pm, sitting down promptly at 7pm for dinner and aim to finish by 9.30pm.
This will be a fish & chip supper and anyone is welcome to come, but you must have given your name to Tricia West (835098) or Roger Coley (834241) by Monday 25th January at the latest. Payment on the night.
Ash Wednesday Holy Communion
On Wednesday 10th February at 7.30pm there will be the annual Benefice service of Holy Communion and Ashing…this year to be held at St Mary’s, Church Fenton. Everyone is very welcome to come along – if you need a lift, do ask around among those church members who live near you, and if you still can’t find one, then speak to Tricia who will try to match you up with someone who is going.
Coming up….
Jackie will be on a two-week placement at York Minster from Monday 1st – Sunday 14th February. She then heads off to General Synod for Monday 15th till Wed 17th, followed by a couple of days on holiday, returning to work on Sunday 21st Feb. During this time, any pastoral concerns should be referred to one of the Readers. Issues to do with the church building or activities should be directed through Tricia who will pass them onto the right person to deal with them.
Sunday 7th February is Reader Sunday and on that day our Readers will be preaching at all the services across the Benefice and also at Tockwith. Please remember all our Readers and the work that they put in as they serve the Benefice. If you would like to know more about Reader ministry, feel free to speak to any of them and they would be delighted to tell you more.
